Paws to Trail<p>We managed to get a vacation in this autumn after all! We've improved our financial situation enough to afford a trip up to the upper peninsula (UP) of Michigan for hiking around the Porcupine Mountains region.</p><p>And we lucked out for color! The red maples may be past their prime, but the sugar maples are filling the woods with bright yellows and fluorescent oranges.</p><p>Plus: SNOW! We knew it was going to get below freezing last night, but it persisted into the day with flurries and outright snow, especially at the higher altitudes in the Porcupine "Mountains".</p><p><a href="https://mountains.social/tags/Huskies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Huskies</span></a> <a href="https://mountains.social/tags/Hiking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Hiking</span></a> <a href="https://mountains.social/tags/Porkies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Porkies</span></a> <a href="https://mountains.social/tags/PorcupineMountainWilderness" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PorcupineMountainWilderness</span></a></p>
