Paws to Trail<p>We managed to get a vacation in this autumn after all! We've improved our financial situation enough to afford a trip up to the upper peninsula (UP) of Michigan for hiking around the Porcupine Mountains region.</p><p>And we lucked out for color! The red maples may be past their prime, but the sugar maples are filling the woods with bright yellows and fluorescent oranges.</p><p>Plus: SNOW! Paws to Trail<p>Today is our last day of <a href="https://mountains.social/tags/hiking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hiking</span></a> in the <a href="https://mountains.social/tags/Porkies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Porkies</span></a> (Porcupine Mountain Wilderness) with the <a href="https://mountains.social/tags/huskies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>huskies</span></a>. We're back mostly inland, which means mega blackfly swarms, but tolerable with headnets. After a minor knee injury on yesterday's hike, we chose a shorter, flatter route today.
