Dear Arlington County, VA:
Look. I get that in the COVID and post-COVID era, the commercial real estate market has tanked as have the sales taxes from the office-worker foot traffic, but you gotta keep your roads in better repair than what you're managing, now. I got this gash in my tire on a ramp connecting two major traffic routes not even a full mile from your freaking municipal courthouse and main police station.

This headline evinces an inability to look outside the box. What we need is not better asphalt or better asphalt maintenance: what we need is a different road surface, e.g. brick pavers, that does not come from oil, does not leach toxins into waterways, and does not generate mountains of waste with every 10-year replacement.
Methinks, with the dreadful state of the #roads in the #UK, in particular the #Pothole issue, high on the #public agenda right now, time to revisit this #classic I photographed in my #village back in May 2019. #Tory #Britain #Underinvestment in #Infrastructure #Transport Might be a broader #political message being conveyed here?
