Didn't get in my birthday skate, but I managed to roll all three days of Memorial Day weekend and posted 90+ miles, especially enjoying Monday afternoon's jaunt to #RedHook and #Greenpoint. The thigh muscles just about died on me toward the end of Sunday's roll, but although they whined a bit on the uphills on Monday, they hung in there. Woot.

Sigh, the ugly feeling when the endorphins never really kicked in, because you skated 55 km with a ('nother) cold, and all you can feel is that the cold got worse.
OTOH, I did get some useful stuff done at work over the weekend. Maybe I should reward myself with a day off reading in bed.
Skated Sunday afternoon to one of my favorite destinations. My timing sucked in that, no, no cruise ships in view. But there were various scows pushing crap past the Statue of Liberty. Seems apropos these days.
Putting together a very strong lineup for the upcoming Freaks Day Out run, got some great acts lined up to play in our little Brooklyn hideaway, aka the FDO Amphitheater.
Outdoor music season will soon be here!! If you're in the NYC area, I hope you'll come out to one or some or all.
First one will be 3/30 with Tasca, a fab organ trio.
Cruise ships are nasty polluters that are the enemy of the climate, but OMG, I love skating to Valentino Pier and watching the BUFFs as they navigate Upper New York Bay. And Sunday I caught a two-fer!

Sunday at (OMG, ugh) 4:50 p.m. was not the best sunset I've ever seen at #RedHook #Brooklyn, but still pretty good. It's best in early summer when the sun sets behind the Statue of Liberty.
The marine traffic map I consulted says the cruise ship in the distance was the Symphony of the Seas, 4th largest such ship in the world. Weirdly, I could not find info elsewhere indicating that SotS had been docked at either the Manhattan or Brooklyn cruise terminals.
