More on 🚩🚩🚩in research.

When we can identify the theoretical stance of researchers (& by implication, their preferred findings), by the way the study was designed, our science is in trouble.

All methods encourage some kinds of findings over others. Sometimes it’s as obvious as ‘confirm what I think I already know’ vs ‘make room to hear things we had not thought of before’.

The first path makes for solid careers. Critiquing the methods used by people who are comfortable in their niche does not make you popular.

Help out Research Methods students who are replicating published psychology studies. They only have a short time to collect data and I'd love for them to have big enough sample sizes for their results to mean something!

The spreadsheet has all the studies they are running. If you can, take a couple of them. Boosts are appreciated!

How transparent is your #Research process?
An #AuditTrail is your research roadmap, a detailed account of every decision, method, and reflection. By documenting your process from design to analysis, you enhance the transparency and credibility of your work. It’s a cornerstone of #QualitativeResearch, promoting #Trustworthiness and enabling others to evaluate and build on your findings.

Bayesian Theory, known for its effectiveness in probability and statistics, is increasingly applied to historical research. Updating the probability of historical events as new evidence is considered offers a structured approach to understanding the past. This method allows historians to quantify uncertainty and make more informed conclusions.
