You know what would be cool for non-technical people?
The internet utopia I was expecting when I was younger involves blackboxes sold to non-technical people to self-host services. Like, here, I bought a mastodon instance, I connect it to the internet (just like buying a dishwasher, or any appliance or device nowadays), and boom, I am selfhosting it.
There are also blackboxes for other services, like a peertube channel, and a pixelfed for all the family. All under your family domain. Automated updates like your android phone.
Do you selfhost?
With the release of the #Synology #DS225+, marks the final x25 model that came out in Q2/3.
For more overviews of all of them including the #DS925+ review, be sure to check out here:

Allora,
Anyone know decent public-ish #GoToSocial instances and admins? Need a separate personal account, just don't really want to #selfhost except for fun/tinkering.
(boosts fine)
Por si 30 servicios me parecían pocos, he instalado uno más: tududi (https://tududi.com). Un gestor de tareas que no tiene mala pinta. Si acaso le echo en falta un cliente para iOS.

I am super proud of myself.
I had a NO_PUBKEY Error when updating my Collabora Online service on my VPS.
My head started to swim and I thought "oh no"!
Anyway, thanks to the internet I found some good guidance on what I needed to do and, voilà, problem solved and I'm all sorted.
I love that I'm constantly learning on my journey of #selfhosting.

Today is #backup day on my #Yunohost service…
Total size of this backup is 10.40GB
* #GoToSocial - 8.53GB
* #Nextcloud - 1.87GB

question for the self hosted community: would you recommend debian or nixOS for a beginner to learn the basics?
edit: as a clarify note, I've been using linux for a while (main os for my personal laptop for over a year, i think), im trying to get into self-hosting.

After never quite managing to get #keycloak set up the way I wanted, I installed #authentik last week and I already have my login flow configured more or less exactly how I want it. I'm having a much better time with it. #Homelab #SelfHost
My Cute Homelab [1] got a few minor updates over the weekend. All 3 ThinkCentre Tiny PCs are now from the m910 series. Two of them now have 2 network ports each. All have HDMI. And I added a 4 port KVM (Keyboard/Video/Mouse) switch for an even cleaner look and less cable switching. I consider this homelab done from the hardware side. Now the fun begins. With the software.
Whenever there's lots of wind, the internet doesn't work for some reason. Luckily the awful #Spotify isn't the only place where I have music.
I finally enabled #Cloudflare proxy for https://git.nicelycomposed.codes
The reason it was disabled was a large file upload limitation on Cloudflare's free tier. I was not able to push large #Docker images to the registry on #Gitea instance.
Now I have a local #DNS record for the Gitea instance pointing directly to the #Zoraxy reverse proxy by its local IP address. So, when my CI jobs push images, the data bypasses Cloudflare's proxy with its limitations.
AI crawlers, on the other hand, are blocked by Cloudflare.
My #Proxmox node should become cooler now.
I got some feedback about how slow my #blog is to load. I decided to try my hand at setting up an #nginx #cache so that the requests can be satisfied by the cache instead of being generated by the blog software itself.
Just doing a few quick tests myself, it seems the like responses come a bit quicker, but I still think some of the delay is just due to the garbage residential Spectrum service.
If anyone would like to poke at my blog and share any observations on load time and potential cache performance, that'd be cool. :-)

Correction! My favorite feature is mobile hoarding with #ios default stack menu offering the KaraKeep app. Effectily one button addition via a mobile device (my most often used scenario).

[Question] How does Plex detect local vs remote access
Addendum 2: Oh, nice! And another advantage of refurbished machines that were used by companies. All 3 of my little Lenovo Tiny machines are already correctly configured for WoL (Wake on LAN). So now I can switch them on and off, depending on needing them or not :)
