Advice for those who aren't getting past the interview stage:

"I have the right ideas, but my words are too... complicated. I need to simplify them, so that people won’t get lost in the dark when they see and hear them. I want them to shine like beacons of light in a world of overly complicated darkness. One day I will find the right words, and they will be simple."

― Jack Kerouac, The Dharma Bums

Because it is always time for Robert Wyatt:

Simplify
Reduce
Over-simplify
Simplify
Reduce
Over-simplify

What we call freedom in the North
Means our freedom to use you
And if you don't co-operate
We'll cut off your supply lines
But you'll be free to re-connect
If you beg our forgiveness
You say I over-simplify
Well yes, so did Albert Einstein

If you've been following me for a while you know that:

1) I'm a loud advocate of good UX above everything else.
2) I'm not a fan of the "design systems".

Why (2)? Because largely I believe it failed to deliver (1). From my experience Design Systems are an awesome drop-in solution for 99% of *anyone's* cases if and only if:

a) You take the design system as-is and are willing to bend your design choices so it does not violate said design system.
b) You don't develop your own design system (this would directly violate (a)).
c) Everyone in the team understands the interactions and intentions of every piece perfectly.

Sadly pretty much every company violates any or all of the above.

❝ We are not our stuff. We are more than our possessions. Our memories are within us, not our things. Our stuff weighs on us mentally and emotionally. Old photographs can be scanned. You can take pictures of items you want to remember. Items that are sentimental for us can be useful to others. Letting go is freeing. ❞
