I'm still looking. I'm still at the #VA but I've lost: 2 data engineers, 1 system engineer, 1 cybersecurity engineer, my contracting manager (last friday, no notice) and our director just announced retirement.

I've been applying everywhere for relevant roles. Even in 2021, I had a reply response of around 20:1 . Now, ive put in probably 200. I've got nothing. (well, thats not true. weapons manufacture keeps pinging. no way no how)

Hello, friends! As some of you may know, I got laid off in May. At my last job, I was promoted into the SRE role, which is the first time I’ve worked in that position, and I loved it! Specifically, being in charge of our Incident Management processes.

Now that I’m ramping up to interview again, I was curious how you interview SREs at your company, as this would be the first time I’ll be applying to SRE-specific roles. Do you interview them like regular software engineers? Do you have a specific SRE interview process? What is that process like?

I would very much appreciate some helpful tips from the community!

Hello fellow system admins, I'm looking for suggestions on monitoring software for large infrastructures.

I'm looking for something that will monitor and discover UPS's, firewalls, switches, ESXI hosts, and individual VMs (Windows Server and different Linux distros).

For the VMs, it's a must to be able to monitor and have an overview on both the networking side and the OS itself, like logging, processes.

Currently, Zabbix is being used, but I'm looking for other alternatives, but fine to stay with Zabbix if that's the best to achieve everything I've asked about.

It would feature the basic stuff as being able to group specific hosts into one specific group, have alerts, SNMP; CDP and other discovery protocols.
