It's an interesting idea that the premise for this episode is Star Fleet responding to a report that they receive 100 years after it was sent because it was transmitted via radio.

Other than that, the idea that the entire society would model itself after one book, without some planetwide conquest, is ridiculous.

If the blue bridge overhead display with a grid, seen at Communications 1 on the USS Defiant in #StarTrekTOS' "The Tholian Web" seems familiar, it's because it appeared one season earlier on the Enterprise at Science 1 in "Friday's Child", back in the days of wig-Chekov. Nothing ever wasted! :-)

Here are the bridge overhead displays seen on the USS Defiant bridge in #StarTrekTOS' "The Tholian Web". Only the displays on the right side of the bridge (when seen from the Captain's chair) are seen and none of them appears like that in #StarTrekENT's "In a Mirror, Darkly".
