On two ThinkPad/AMD Laptops with Broadcom WiFi adapter (ath11k_pci driver), I had serious issues with system hangs when WiFi was connecting and on resume from sleep (s2idle) in Fedora 42 with Linux kernel 6.14.2.

I Created a BugZilla entry and reported the issue to Fedora Bodhi. Several people reported the same issues there.

Now Linux 6.14.3 arrived in Fedora testing and resolved both issues :-) Now everything works without issues again!

Mobiles Mini-#Tonstudio.

Das #MacBook von 2017 ist bei weitem nicht überfordert mit der Aufgabe, fängt aber bereits bei 5 bis 10% Systemauslastung unglaublich an zu pusten, sodass man eigentlich in einen anderen Raum damit muss. #Apple, so gefeiert, ich kann's immer noch nicht nachvollziehen.

Einsatzgrund: #RME #TotalMix für das #Fireface400 ist einfach so viel besser als #ffadomixer unter #UbuntuStudio #Linux. Letzterer wäre auf meinem #Thinkpad verfügbar und würde auch mit diesem Interface funktionieren.

#Ardour bleibt Ardour, auch auf #OSX.

Une réparation que je repoussais depuis un certain temps : un #IBM #thinkpad 365XD de 1996 (#Pentium 120, 16Mo de RAM) qui n'avait plus de backlight.
Au final le démontage n'était pas si compliqué et la panne était simplement un fusible grillé sur le circuit du backlight. Comme il y avait de la place j'ai mis un polyfuse (en gros ce que j'avais sous la main !) et ça fonctionne très bien.
Reste à remonter tout ça !

Le panneau d'affichage sans son capot avant, le circuit du backlight occupe tout l'espace à droite de l'écran. Un polyfuse tient juste entre le connecteur d'alimentation et le potentiomètre de luminosite.

The challenge is finding a third-party #Thinkpad battery that isn't a potato.

The one I got for my X260 lasts a decent amount of time (~4 hours), but rapidly falls to 0% once it crosses under the 40% threshold.

But the combo of used-but-genuine internal and new-but-knockoff external battery is decent. 😄

The #ThinkPad 480's internal battery is still showing a full charge of 21.5Wh out of a nominal 24Wh capacity, which is quite excellent (The external, easily swappable battery is discharged first, which explains the better condition of the internal)

Bad news: My laptop seems to run out of power on battery much more quickly than previously

Good news: Its a #ThinkPad T480 with twin batteries, the external one can just be swapped out

So.... envstat reports the last full capacity was 4.6Wh....

(swaps out new battery and re-runs command)

envstat now reports a last full capacity of 57.7Wh, which seems a better place to be...

One day I will have to replace this machine, but Today Is Not That Day

I love #Gentoo #Linux so much. I can run one command on my terminal and watch as for 36 hours my old #Thinkpad T420 compiles every program on my entire system down to the compilers themselves and the system utils one by one, in a sensical order, with no errors or any further user input required.

It's truly magical.
