It's such a relief (and a pleasure!) to be back on the torch again, after an absence of several weeks, while I moved cross country, waited for my glass, tools and equipment to arrive, and organized a new, if temporary, studio space. It seemed fitting to play with some New Mexico colors! #handmade #handmadeglass #handmadebeads #glass #HotGlass #glassart #glassartist #lampwork #torchwork #flamework #artyoucanwear #lampworkjewelry #studioart #studioglass #lascruces #lascrucesnm #newmexicoartist

Friends, I'm excited to share that I'm now a vendor at the Las Cruces Farmers & Crafters Market, held in Downtown Las Cruces, every Saturday since 1971. I won't be there every Saturday, but a couple of times per month for sure. And I'll be doing other local markets. Stay tuned. I'll share my schedule monthly. #handmade #glass #hotglass #MastoArt #GlassArt #glassartist #lampwork #flameworking #torchwork #beads #glassbeads #studioglass #studioart #artyoucanwear #newmexico #newmexicoartist

It may not look very exciting if you're not a hot glass artist, but I'm pleased to have received many of my mandrels, presses, and other tools, with more still in transit. Also cleaning out a nasty little shack behind the house, which will soon be my studio space. I'll share a pic of that soon. With any luck, I'll be back on the torch next weekend! #handmade #MastoArt #glass #hotglass #GlassArt #GlassArtist #lampworking #torchwork #flameworking #studioglass #artyoucanwear #lascruces #newmexico

In spite of everything that's happening globally and domestically, I'm still excited that the better part of my supply of glass rods and canes has finally caught up with me in my new City of Las Cruces, NM. I'm itching to get back on the torch, with lots of new ideas. Stay tuned! #handmade #MastoArt #glass #hotglass #lampwork #torchwork #flamework #beads #glassbeads #handmadeglass #handmadebeads #art #glassart #glassartist #studioglass #studioart #artyoucanwear #newmexico #lascruces

It's funny, when you've made so many objects over the years you find things in inventory you'd forgotten you'd made. Here are a few I stumbled across recently. First, a little fused glass drop pendant. Next, a delicate necklace in 2 shades of transparent blue with iridescent mica powder added. Finally, a necklace of disc beads in opaque teal with marbled blue overlay. #lascruces #newmexico #newmexicoartist #hotglass #glassart #glassartist #lampwork #flamework #torchwork #artyoucanwear #handmade

I mentioned in a post last week that I had some big news to share. Here it is: I'm moving to Las Cruces, New Mexico, and will permanently reside there. Las Cruces has a thriving arts scene and art markets, and will allow me to earn good income from my work while in retirement. There may be a pause for a while as I get settled. Until then, enjoy the end of Spring!

Just completed, and hearkening back to early Roman jewelry using semi-precious stones like amethyst and rock crystal. Here, I've used transparent very pale blue and light purple Murano glass to make the beads, adding colored mica powders while white hot for shimmer, resembling iridescence. Something new in my Ko-fi store: This necklace is 20 inches long. I used transparent red, transparent topaz, and various shades of opaque red and other warm colors of Murano glass, all with added trailing. The focal bead is red and yellow, with gold mica powder, all encased in clear. This is very similar to a piece I created and posted here a couple of weeks ago, using the same baking soda technique, but I used a wider and brighter range of colors. Overall, I like this one better than the previous example. It's in my Etsy shop now (link in my profile). #handmade #glass #hotglass #lampwork #torchwork #artyoucanwear #handmadeglass #handmadebeads #lampworkjewelry #beads #studioglass #artglass #etsyshop #etsyfinds #necklace

I used canes of green, rose and blue glass with encased strands of opaque white to make the beads for this 18-inch necklace. The white strands give the beads a sense of movement. The colors suggest the holidays, but this could be worn anytime.
