Thin Crust Tavern Cut<p>I&#39;ve noticed at a certain age things begin to float to the surface. If you beat yourself up when you were younger, those old wounds start to throb at odd times, and you may now and then, find yourself thinking and speaking in can only be your ancestral voice, because it sure as hell isn&#39;t you, but it still had to come from somewhere. </p><p>- John Gierach</p>

Thin Crust Tavern Cut<p>I read once upon a time in India insane people were tied to trees on the banks of rivers so the sound of moving water could draw out their madness. I wondered if we had enough rivers and enough trees to give every registered voter in America the same treatment. </p><p> -John Gierach </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/fishing" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>fishing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/flyfishing" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>flyfishing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/bassfishing" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>bassfishing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/trout" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>trout</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/fishingfriday" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>fishingfriday</span></a></p>
Thin Crust Tavern Cut<p>Periodic bitching is an unavoidable symptom of a lifetime spent fishing. Older fishermen have been around so much beauty for so long that perfection seems ordinary and even a single beer can tossed on the bank of a stream looks like pure runination-and this from men who in our younger, wilder days carelessly disposed of some empty bear cans ourselves. Of course now we pick them up, possibly as a kind of penance.</p><p> -John Gierach </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/fishing" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>fishing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/flyfishing" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>flyfishing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/bassfishing" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>bassfishing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/trout" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>trout</span></a></p>

Thin Crust Tavern Cut<p>Most days I&#39;m a perfectly happy fisherman-it&#39;s my mission in life-but now and then I do catch myself making old guy noises about how it is now as opposed to how it once was. I used to worry about that because I dreaded turning into an old geezer, but the I thought What the hell, you might as well embrace what comes next because what else can you do?</p><p> -John Gierach </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/fishing" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>fishing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/flyfishing" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>flyfishing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/bassfishing" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>bassfishing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/trout" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>trout</span></a></p>
