Ham on Wry

For those non-voters who wanted to send a message to Biden and the Democrats: not only did you f@ck it up for the people of Palestine, you gave the Ukraine to Russia and totally f@cked your own country.

Well done, dumbasses. Well done.

@HamonWry

It's right to oppose a genocidal invasion in Ukraine; it's also right to oppose a genocidal invasion of Palestine, and its supporters. You don't get to choose who is worthy of life. I voted for VP Harris, but I also feel she risked our democracy by supporting the Israeli genocide in Palestine. If she alienated enough progressive voters by doing so to tilt the election, that's her responsibility.
Don't blame people who, unlike you, couldn't ignore a genocide. #Palestine #Ukraine

@JeffreySmith @HamonWry

They did ignore a genocide, asshole, because Trump already told them what he was gonna do to palestine, and Russia is doing their damndest to do to Ukraine.

Pretending that wasn't obviously on the menu is enabling the worst people in the worst way. You let perfect be the enemy of good and we are all going to suffer, but the people of gaza will suffer the most and the soonest.

@qkslvrwolf @JeffreySmith @HamonWry Your country was already arming and funding a genocide, asshole.

@aral @qkslvrwolf @JeffreySmith @HamonWry

we love to blame the wrong people in the united states.

here, instead of blaming disenfranchisement, or the corporate, i mean, democratic party for not being able to engage 80 million potential voters, they are blaming people who were against a genocide in palestine (btw, many of us STILL held our noses and voted harris). pretty amazing stuff here.

@rustoleumlove @aral @JeffreySmith @HamonWry

I blame the billionaires and putin for putting us where we at, but horseshit lefties sure are useful idiots.

@qkslvrwolf @JeffreySmith @HamonWry Expecting someone to not support genocide isn't remotely asking for perfection, it's the lowest possible bar to clear for someone with any sense of humanity. Yet somehow Harris and the entire Democratic establishment managed to limbo under it. So stop with all the "you let perfect be the enemy of good" bullshit.

@_mosso @JeffreySmith @HamonWry

AND WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THEM NOW, DUMBASS? You think a forced relocation and a lot of death on top of continued bombings is better or even the same?

@qkslvrwolf @JeffreySmith @HamonWry Some people will understandably balk at voting for genocide, but rather than punch up at the few people who support genocide, you're here punching down at the many who don't. People like you have enabled the failure of the Democratic Party by proving you'll vote for them no matter how awful they are.

When the moral high ground you're trying to vote shame people from is situated a couple of inches above the floor of the Mariana trench, stop digging.

@_mosso @JeffreySmith @HamonWry

Look my dude, people who don't learn lessons doom us to continued failure.

I will happily join in for a general strike and for getting rid of billionaires, but if ya'll can't realize it was a tactical and moral error to not protect the world from Trump it's VERY unlikely we'll be able to agree on exit conditions for a general strike or any useful action. You fucked up. So feel free to climb down off your high horse and join us in the real world.

@qkslvrwolf @JeffreySmith @HamonWry Dude, in the real world some people balk against voting for genocide. That's because it's a crime against humanity. Trump's election is all the evidence you need to grasp that some people don't react to attempts to persuade/coerce/threaten/embarrass them into voting in the same way you do.

I don't know how many times I have to say the same thing before you understand it, but if you can't then you have zero chance of winning them over next time.

@qkslvrwolf @JeffreySmith @HamonWry Furthermore, the platform you voted for and apparently still support did not save the world from Trump and it enabled crimes against humanity. That's the definition of a tactical and moral failure.

So, I'd say you've learned the square root of fuck all.

@_mosso @JeffreySmith @HamonWry

Ya'll can't even win a local election and you're gonna lecture anyone else on how to run a coalition.

Ya'll moved the Biden administration and we could've moved them more...if we'd elected them. We can't do shit with the king.

You have no operating theory of power.

@qkslvrwolf @HamonWry

Keep punching down, and see where that gets you.

@JeffreySmith
I'll leave him to you - just hitting the mute button. But I did notice that even setting aside the moral issues the post was politically illiterate. (There's a Brecht poem mocking that, nothing new there.)

There are a lot of people suffering from Stockholm syndrome. As one understands. It's a popular electoral strategy, though a failed one at the moment.

(Voted for Harris. Sophie's Choice and all. Blame the one who offers it.)

@JeffreySmith
> I voted for VP Harris, but I also feel she risked our democracy by supporting the Israeli genocide in Palestine.

Yes. Voting for the incumbent at that time was voting to support the administration that actually did, for years, enable that genocide. That's not Jeffrey's fault; it's not the no-voter's fault. Harris's policy was her responsibility; she chose to declare policy of continuing enablement of an ongoing genocide.

Comes the objection @HamonWry: "But the Trump administration isn't any better on Palestine!" Okay, so you're saying voters were not given a meaningful choice on that issue; don't blame them for correctly determining they could not support either party.

USA citizens who didn't vote for either party in 2024, have a huge range of reasons (many of them wanted to but could not!), and whatever their reasons, they don't bear responsibility for either party's support for genocide. That's on the people in office, then and now.

@HamonWry@mastodon.world not rooting for usa exactly... and so many democrat votes were thrown out in red states anyways people did vote for kamala and if didn't matter. So might as well get angry at that rather than people who see the democrats for who they are...

@HamonWry I think there are a hell of a lot of voters who have also sent the wrong message. Now its payback time - just as predicted Also dumbasses.

@HamonWry “the worst possible outcome for Gaza is actually the best choice for Gaza. I am basically a revolutionary.”
