I'm a pantser, & always knew I couldn't plan ahead. I just realized something I wasn't conscious of before. I used to take years to rework my tales as I learned my craft. Now I realize how I'm #writing my stories, with the layers my friends talk about. Beginning this week I drafted a piece (beginning, middle & end) that was 1,604 words. The next day it was 2,705 words. A few days later it was 3,917 words. Yesterday, it was 4,303 words. Anyone else follow a similar process? #writingcommunity
@SharonBergAuthor My first book was "pantsed," but all of my successive MSs have been plotted more and more, resulting in much less re-writing of the final draft.
@wendyparciak That is interesting. I very much doubt that I will change my approach though.
@SharonBergAuthor Everyone has a method that works for them!
My writing process has definitely evolved since Book 1. I do a lot more preparation and "outlining" now, although, judging from what I've read from confirmed "plotters," I do nowhere near the level of detail they do before I jump into writing. My notes document evolves with the story and is most useful for editing.
@SharonBergAuthor yep. That sounds like me as well. I’m not sure what I’ll write until I sit down and actually get to it.
