Just as I’m finding a majority of people 18-29 get their news from TikTok…

That TikTok is making sympathy for Osama bin Laden trend

Even Arafat disavowed bin Laden. That man is garbage and the ocean is still mad at us for throwing our trash there

TikTok is cancer.

I remember my nephew saying the stupidest shit at the dinner table. I told him so and told him to stop. He continued and said he read it on Reddit. I lost my shit on him for relying on Reddit for news/info.

We need to have a 1-hour news loop station where only the news is reported. No opinion. No spin. No expert analysis afterwards. No sad/teary/mad anchor reading it...

I assume with AI, we can recreate the image of Walter Cronkite? Let's put AI to good use and do that.

@bkm I love the concept but when someone like Trump gets into office and starts to dictate what real news actually is this becomes supremely dangerous. People need critical thinking skills and a way to balance multiple sources to find out what’s really happening

Also I’m not totally against corporal punishment For dummy kids at the table

@flexghost

I agree if news is curated by wannabe dictators. Maybe run it from Switzerland 😂

As for the (19-20 at the time) nephew, let's just say I made him and his protective mother cry without touching them. Not proud of that but he truly was being offensive.

@bkm @flexghost Dr. Rashad Richey has a bit he shows on his show "Indisputable' discussing bias in the media, and how it is impossible to eliminate. Every show has a set amount of time you have to present the news, and even picking the stories is biased. Because you weed out what you think isn't important in favor of what you think isn't... I can't imagine how a 1 hour loop could do anything but make that worse. I like the idea... but not like that.

@Jon_Kramer @flexghost

I can see that. It's always been the case that news is selected by the station but it's still news.

24 hour media hasn't expanded coverage of news, they've expanded time dedicated to one news story.

Once you've reported the facts, what then? Do you fill the time with investigative journalism? Too expensive. Or maybe have the Anderson Coopers of cable news report on people's opinions then either argue about it or console them with sad eyes and tots and pears?

@bkm @flexghost I think the point Dr Richey is making is that you can choose the stories to show to influence the viewers. How much coverage is there right now of what the military is doing to the Rohingya in Myanmar? What they did, or are doing, is comparable to what is happening in Gaza. But it isn't in the news... Because there isn't time for every story to be told. But not telling those stories warps our perceptions.

The lack of telling a story is bias, as much as it is bias to spin it.
