Cars ruin cities in more ways than just running people over.
Paris has reduced air pollution by 50-55% over the past 20 years through policies limiting traffic and banning polluting vehicles.
@davidho @raycunningham we need to do the same
Despite the fossil fuel industry's best efforts to keep captive consumer markets for their toxic products, people are ditching car culture.
No wonder the fossil fuel industry funds astroturf protests like the Yellow Vests.
Anything to keep their wealth at the expense of the planet.
@davidho
I remember how blue the skies were during lock down.
Giant baby carriages.
Less cars in a city -> better air quality, less accidents leading to heavy injuries or death, less noise, less microplastic in the air, less heating in summer, more space - public and private. etc.
I think there's more arguments for getting rid of cars in a city than for keeping them.
@davidho If we are able to look back in 100 years, I think we will see air pollution like letting sewers drain into drinking water.
@davidho ban them for any reason. We need to slow the hell down as human beings.
