Chionanthus virginicus, American fringe tree
Mine is a female tree but birds and squirrels eat most of the berries. The berries are awful, chemical tasting. 2 cycles of cold stratification needed to germinate seeds. Flowers smell faintly like honeysuckle with a little jasmine. Dried, they smell like floral fresh hay.

@richardgrant yes, both male and female trees both produce flowers. Some trees can produce perfect flowers while still having a dominant sex. Online, it says that male trees are “showier” but I can’t tell the difference between mine and the others in our area from a distance.
