I got ants in my plants.
Ants aerate the soil, allowing nutrients to reach roots as well as decomposing matter and adding their own nutrients to the soil.
Video was taken from up-potting one of my favorite tropical fruit shrubs. To foster ant mutuals, don’t use pesticides.

@jblue I'd watch out for soil becoming too acidic with a lot of ants involved

@jblue I see your article and I'm all in on the perturbation and tunneling. But I did have a huge ant nest in a big raised bed that made that bed essentially barren. It was acid, way more so than the surrounding soil.
These were the tiny odorous house ant. Maybe they're different.
In general, I don't hassle ants or much of anything but I did have to control the odorous house ants, finally.
