@jeffowski And evidently overcome our own greed and selfishness.

@gumpfloyd

Yes exactly. :)
The term was coined by afro-americans as a way to say that someone is awake to the fact that there are still systemic injustices, especially white suprimacy.

@jeffowski

In Star Trek, it took a 3rd world war before that maturity was achieved.

Russia and its Republican supporters are preparing for world war.

In the Star Trek timeline 600 million people will die in a WW3

Star Trek was prophetic.

POLITICO · Putin could attack NATO in ‘5 to 8 years,’ German defense minister warnsBy Nicolas Camut

@Npars01 @jeffowski If there is a WW3 there probably won't be anyone left but a climate catastrophe or some kind viral outbreak from the melting ice is also likely.

@Npars01 @jeffowski "the human race was able to not only recover but eradicate war, disease, hunger, and a reliance on money only 50 years after making First Contact with the Vulcans in 2063" ... vulcan leftie economists raising an eyebrow at the ramblings of a few billionaires emerging from their bunkers

@Npars01 @jeffowski If you see this and by a one in trillion chance didn't watch BSG (new one), "don't" 😉

@jeffowski Nonetheless, Star Trek remains orders of magnitude less sophisticated, and somewhat less woke, than Dr Who.

@TimWardCam

I dearly love both, but I've got to disagree here.

@jeffowski

@TimWardCam @jeffowski Dr Who isn’t sophisticated. New Who is a manic guy/gal waiving a magic wand around obsessed with Earth. Pretty one-note compared to old Who, which was rarely Earth-obsessed and the sonic screwdriver was, you know, a screw driver.

@delric @jeffowski "... waving a magic wand around ..." ... cough ... tricorders ...

@TimWardCam @jeffowski no relevance to the absurdity of new Who and its dependence on magic wands and Earth-centrism

@jeffowski It tried to teach us that you did not have to give up your identity or heritage to take part in something greater.

@jeffowski @trending_bot ya know. i grew up watching TNG.

I also find that, at least now that i'm a little older, i take opinions and lifestyles different from my own a little more in stride than i think a lot of humanity seems to...

Wonder if that's related.

@jeffowski

On my worst, most misanthropic days, looking at all the horrors on the news, I want to respond, boy did he ever get that wrong.

But we've got to have hope. We've got to keep hope alive. Hope for the future.

@jeffowski I really fell in love with that show and have watched all of Roddenberry. Trekkie for life

@jeffowski that is enshrined in the IDIC, the intersection of diametrically opposed ideas or views, as represented by the shapes, and finding common ground to produce the gem in the center. That gem cannot be produced by either separately.
