mastodon.world is one of the many independent Mastodon servers you can use to participate in the fediverse.
Generic Mastodon server for anyone to use.

The #complaints are flying in. So many #mastodon #Fediverse users complain about no #alttext some complain when there is wrong text. As if #AI is 100% accurate anyways.

The most egregious user base is on @mastodon.social who love to complain about everything.

I'm sure I can figure out precisely who is complaining as this process on the surface attempts to anonymize the complainer.

But anyways I guess mastodon.social is the largest server as it contains the largest collection of cry babies.

@rtp -- I'm fascinated by the that has formed on Mastodon.
Imagine being on a social media platform and want it to grow and do well, but also declare that you don't boost/share anything without alt-text, even if you agree with the message otherwise. And these same people don't contribute to
Now imagine all the users that are NOT posting and DO NOT contribute to Mastodon because of these guys...
I mean, I post constantly and I sometimes don't want to post because of this.

@jeffowski
Do you mind people adding alt text as reply? Just to understand your position. Although I love inclusion and diversity, I see that being constantly reminded can be ... let's say exhausting.

Church of Jeff

@suvidu @rtp -- The other thing that seems to be beyond the comprehension of the is that the alt-text is in ENGLISH. This is only readable by about 1/4 of the earth's population.
The next logical step, using their logic, would be to stop sharing ANYTHING unless it not only has Alt-Text, but that it is translated into a plethora of other languages.
After all, it's about accessibility to EVERYONE, and unless EVERYONE has access, NO ONE SHOULD HAVE ACCESS.
Totally asinine.

@jeffowski
Well, that seems to be the reason I didn't know this hashtag. I write and read mainly in German 😅

Your point about the languages is interesting, I never thought about it. I edited the settings of my mastodon account so I only see posts in languages I can at least read, so the majority of posts in other languages is hidden from me. Thank you for giving me this new perspective.
@rtp

@jeffowski @suvidu

I've considered how to handle this and there is no easy way unless there are (in our method) accounts exclusive to that language. in short a us-funny or a de-funny etc.

no thanks, the request is reasonable the implementation is slightly challenging the reach is as you say 1/4th the population

most wouldn't even spend time with that shallow of penetration

@rtp
It is the broadest penetration you'll get, isn't it?
@jeffowski

@suvidu @jeffowski

Right, consumption of effort whether its a production/tool/solution/service whatever ideal penetration is 1/2 of consumers. from here we layer in geo specifics and other demographics
