@guncelawits @jeffowski Did you know that they don't sell menswear in size "small"? The sizes start at medium because apparently no man likes to think of himself as "small". Fragile masculinity or what!

@LillyHerself @guncelawits -- Which country? Which sizing scheme or regime?
US clothing sizes and Asian clothing sizes are very different, which is why you always have to look at the sizing guide online.

@jeffowski @guncelawits Well, I can only speak for the western world, and mainly in-person shopping. It seems to bother men a lot less to order smaller sizes online, and GAP has always offered even XS, which is even to small for me.

I first became aware of this when "Marlboro" (yes, like the cigs) opened a menswear store and my bf (average size guy) was unable to buy anything there because they "didn't do small sizes".

Here is a typical example from Lidl: lidl.co.uk/p/livergy-men-s-hoo

I have always admired the fact that men's pants (ahem, scuse my yankness, trousers) are sized by actual measurements (like, 32" waist 33" inseam kinda thing). Can't we have some more of that please?

@violetmadder @jeffowski @guncelawits I agree! I was looking at some cotton knit men's pyjamas in the sale - M, L, XL only sizes, and packaged such that you couldn't take them out and look at them. Bought the L, which turned out to be a M (in my opinion). Tiny waist, very long legs...!

These letters and numbers are meaningless and made up! I need useful information based on reality!

@LillyHerself @jeffowski @guncelawits

Right of course. I guess we should ask chatgpt or whatever which clothes will fit and when the drones bring the mail, that underwear will be designed for a slugpuppy whose udders have a biblically accurate number of nipples.

I've always been M(medium size). Except over the last half century M has expanded at exactly the same rate as my waist.

Same with my wife. She has always been size 12. But she couldn't get into one of her old size 12 dresses.

That's why they don't do inches/cms 'cos it would embarrass us!
