@mwadmin thanks! Maybe it helps to keep the approval required sign-ups. We've had them for years now and it has had two effects:

1) spammers do not even try to register and even if they do, we can quickly detect them

2) Sure, it's a small barrier for new users, but that way we only get users who _really_ are interested. Less noise, less spamming, less harassment etc.

I can only encourage every FediAdmin to require approvals on sign-up :)

Yeah, it definitely saves on bot-squishing after someone's decided you're exploitable.

@mwadmin you are all doing great, I trust you guys to figure this out, I've never had much of an issue with spam in the 2+ years, keep up the great work!

In a backhanded way, it’s a compliment to be inundated with spambot accounts and followers. But yeah, block ‘em when you can.
