I’ve switched my semi-dormant newsletter from Substack to Beehiiv with first post there. With a run-cute selfie from a snowy Brooklyn Bridge in winter 2020-21 wearing a “Vote” mask, as encouraging voting & defending democracy never go out of style.
I said what I said.

@joeo10 I moved over to Beehiiv!
My newsletter/blog isn’t super active, hadn’t posted since the election.

@obrien_kat That's a good choice of newsletter!

And very good post there, future is uncertain for my people and the train wreck is going to get ugly.

Hope you are holding up well today.

@joeo10 thanks, Joe. Scary times indeed. Hope you are also holding up well!

@obrien_kat you'll also continue post links here?

(My inbox is a flooded mess of procrastination...)

@mlawton yes, I haven’t been posting often there, but due to some of the concerns over Substack, I switched from there to Beehiiv.

@obrien_kat mundane observation but the idea of running across the Brooklyn Bridge sounds cool, adding that to my NYC Visit list along with "walk the length of Manhattan"

@kkremitzki best tip is to go early in the morning before it’s too crowded with tourists. It’s a joy close to sunrise! Late evening could work too, but that’s not a time I like to run.
The only good thing I found during peak COVID year was being able to run on the Brooklyn Bridge with no crowds.

@obrien_kat Do you have an RSS feed for your newsletter?

@obrien_kat Well-written and well said. This was the key paragraph for me:

I don’t know yet exactly how I can make the most impact in support of a strong and inclusive democracy. . . But I do know that my parents always said that “to whom much has been given, much is expected,” which I’ll be honest, I didn’t even remember was a Bible verse until I searched today for the origin of that saying. It’s Luke 12:48: From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.

I feel this a great deal, both the puzzlement and the responsibility. For the moment, I am one of those not reading the news and trying to adjust what I expected the US to be with what it is.
