Ecch... I come from four generations of Christian missionaries. I speak from the belly of the beast so to speak.
Religion is just a big nothing, sorta like a drying rack where we hang all that is sacred to us. It's mostly cultural, but....
When you get past all that smells and bells stuff, talk to the old believers, they'll tell you it comes down to seeing ourselves in each other, humility, caring, holiness.
We're all wounded, staggering down the road, on each others' shoulders.
