An OLED Panel mod for the original LCD #SteamDeck is being made, and it sounds incredible:
@steamdeckhq Custom bios just kills this for me... If they ever fold as a company and can't provide a new bios the deck becomes a brick. I never want to risk that.
@solarisfire that’s fair. The BIOS is a big deal. It is going to be open source which is nice, but anything that messes with BIOS makes me do a double take.
@solarisfire@mast.solarisfire.com @steamdeckhq@mastodon.world good point. it seems there's no way around it unfortunately. there was another screen mod in the past also requires custom BIOS.
@betamax @steamdeckhq Would be cool if they could work with Valve and get support for these screens baked into the official bios so it was just there going forward...
