Ross of Ottawa<p>Today is a <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/FusionBreakthrough" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FusionBreakthrough</span></a> presser they've been teasing us with since the weekend.</p><p>It's giving me flashbacks to the benchtop-fusion kerfuffle. I had a student job in semiconductor physics a few years before the web, and all the physicist staff were getting faxed copies of the paper from distant friends and photocopies of photocopies were being shared by sneaker net.</p><p>Exciting time… but the flaws and red-flags popped up quickly.</p>
