@CppGuy so it's not even a summary of the fictional character (i.e Jack Sparrow, Spock, Teal'c, …) it spewed out!
- So #DuckDuckGo #InstantAnswers would've at least pulled the #Wikipedia article instead.
@CppGuy so it's not even a summary of the fictional character (i.e Jack Sparrow, Spock, Teal'c, …) it spewed out!
@darkrat So it can't even regurgitate sample code based off existing documentation?
@mattblaze and that's why anyone who even mentions #AI gets kicked off premises by me.
AI Label... what would you want it to say?
AI Label... what would you want it to say?
@RaphaelWimmer it's called #DuckDuckGo #InstantAnswers, m8!
@Laukidh @0xabad1dea Exactly!
In the end, everyone from 1st level to instructor is just looking up #InstantAnswers on #ServerFault / #StackOverflow via #DuckDuckGo and/or reading #manpages and #documentation all the time.
@danana_dread wtf?
See, this is why I only use @monocles / #monocles https://monocles.eu since even #DuckDuckGo #InstantAnswers nowadays is flooded with shit like that...
@Gegenwind was als "#KI" vermarktet wird ist bestenfalls eine Mischung aus #CleverBot, #InstantAnswers und 4chan-#Shitposts!
#WolframAlpha kann wenigstens Gleichungssysteme lösen!
@landley also most those "#LLM"s do is being a shitty version of #CleverBot with some #InstantAnswers from #DuckDuckGo and a way worse interface and options than #WolframAlpha.
I don't see how anyone thinks that's revolutionary, cuz actual #AI's like @Hoppel do exist but take years to train in realtime, since they learn not dissimilar from children...
@AuZL this ties in with most tests of #ChatGPT and #GithubCopilot:
Both do well in basic questions and boilerplate code and their answers are on-par to unrefined #DuckDuckGo #InstantAnswers from #StackOverflow...
They do work for well-documented (abeit hidden) features and code.
They only fall flat on their face when it comes to bleeding-edge stuff...
@anniethebruce found what you were looking for?
Also #DuckDuckGo has some clever #syntax stuff like shortcuts for sites/services and #InstantAnswers...
@rodhilton *nodds in agreement*
As much as one can criticize #duckDuckGo for a lot of their search results being bad [don't use them for anything re: #trans #healthcare cuz they'll vomit up #transmisogynist #hate #propaganda] they at least know how to make their #InstantAnswers work and spit out the correct result to something from #StackOverflow / #ServerFault 97,5% of the time...
@ashiisbest Yeah.
#DuckDuckGo's #InstantAnswers makes it easy to automagically find shit on it...
@nixCraft it's not #ShitpostingAsAService that killed #StackOverflow, but it's passive-agressive & elitist #TechBros that tend to delete/cancel questions by newcomers even if those ain't duplicates.
There's a reason I only search SO via #DuckDuckGo #InstantAnswers and don't post any question there:
Because it's a toxic cesspool in between #HackerNews and #WikiPedia where mods rant harder than anything @torvalds said re: nvidia (no offense m8, that rant is deserved!)...

@B_Whitewind Well, @fuchsiii tried stuff like #Github #Copilot and it can't do much beyond suggesting simple, single-digit liners you'd find on #StackOverflow via #DuckDuckGo's #InstantAnswers feature...
