Waxing and Waning 🍥<p>My test bed Mycroft / OpenVoiceOS installation is coming alongnicely. It's frustrating that MycroftAI's excellent online portal for managing skills and settings disappeared with the demise of the company. I looked on eBay but they don't seem to have made it onto there yet. You can just download the software onto a 'puter if you want to just test the principle of the thing. Didn't give it much effort, though. Last time I looked into the Android app it required an external server. I own a Mark I and would love to see the core progress.</span></p>

But they reworked the entire thing including the hardware and re-launched like last week. </p><p>I watched a couple videos and for the price it still doesn't look like much...</p>

Mycroft is there, and exists in the real world. It's biggest problem is that it's smart speaker software without a smart speaker to run on. <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/MycroftAI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MycroftAI</span></a> has been working on getting their hardware released for over 4 years now. In that time, Mycroft has only run on the aging Mark I devices, cobbled together Picrofts, and PCs which it's not designed to run on efficiently. An NPU may be helpful, but Mycroft's own hardware is simply a Pi 4.</p><p><span class="h-card"><a href="https://fosstodon.org/@PINE64" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>PINE64</span></a></span></p>
