PE32 Ransomware: A New Telegram-Based Threat on the Rise
PE32 Ransomware is a new strain of malware that utilizes Telegram for command and control. Despite its amateur execution, it effectively encrypts files and causes significant damage. The ransomware features a unique two-tiered payment model, demanding one fee to unlock files and another to prevent data leaks. It communicates entirely via Telegram Bot API, with the bot token exposed in the code. PE32 is characterized by its messy and loud behavior, dropping marker files, triggering disk repairs, and encrypting even useless files. While lacking sophisticated evasion techniques, it poses a real threat due to its fast encryption process and the current state of poor security hygiene among potential victims. The malware's reliance on basic Windows libraries and its chaotic codebase make it both easy to analyze and potentially dangerous.

So techy people: the whole windows 10 wont be supported come October what does that actually mean? I have no desire to put windows 11 on my machine. I also do not want Linux as I run programs that I only own Windows copies for (and programs where my options are apple or windows). Yes. I. OWN. They are mine, not subscriptions.
Can I just keep being happy using my old software? Is that cool?
(Premptive: if you tell me “but linuuuux” NO just stop there and don’t reply to me. Been there tried it and NO. Nothing fucking works on Linux no matter the distro and I will literally chuck my laptop into a lake before I spend three 12 hour days in that hell again. Just remembering how awful and broken it makes everything is making me see red. NO.)

For former macOS users, this file path should be familiar. But for those coming from Microsoft Windows, it might be a bit different. In Windows, a file path would look like this:

In contrast, Linux (like macOS and BSD) uses a file path structure like:
/ etc / nixos / configuration.nix
This means you don't use a drive letter, and instead of a backslash \ you use a forward slash /
Fun fact: Microsoft Windows is the only mainstream operating system that hasn't fully adopted this universal directory path structure. Even mobile devices like Apple iOS and Android use this format under the hood.
In Microsoft Windows, you use File Explorer to navigate your folders. In Apple macOS, you use Finder. In NixOS with KDE Plasma, you use Dolphin.
Additionally, what sets NixOS apart from many other Linux distributions is that it is immutable. This means the root system is protected and can be easily recovered. If something goes wrong, you can simply reboot and select a previous save. It's similar to restoring a saved game with a timestamp from the boot menu. This feature makes NixOS more secure, stable, and easier to recover from problems.
