Ever since I switched to #GNU #Linux in my private life, using #Windows at work gives me near-daily headaches. I have full admin rights, yet I constantly fight the system: forced updates, inconsistent behavior, sluggish UI, weird errors buried in the registry.

I used to think this was just how #computers worked. But after experiencing the #freedom and clarity of #FOSS, Windows feels more like an obstacle than a tool.

Going back feels wrong.

Je propose la prochaine évolution après la "Licence Libre" qui permet de protéger les droits des utilisateurs face à des développeurs sans scrupules.

Cette nouvelle licence? La "Licence Ligre". Du nom du terrifiant animal croisement entre lion et tigre. C'est très similaire à la licence libre, sauf que tous les utilisateurs qui ont les moyens mais ne contribuent pas en retour, sont contractuellement obligés de faire face à un ligre.

I'm a white European queer nonbinary male who's naive enough to think he can make the world a better place, yet cynical enough to joke about it.

I'm increasingly convinced that relentless activism and bottom-up change is the only way up for this wretched society. I'm mostly invested in climate activism (purely theoretically, of course), but I realize much more is needed.

In the process of turning from ally to accomplice.

I'm deeply into music, including but not limited to stoner doom, queercore, psychedelic cumbia, 70's funk, unorthodox black metal, hardcore punk and its offspring (NOT The Offspring), jazz (the weird kind), ambient, and anything with microtones. Yeah. This is why I dread the question "what music do you like?"

Oh yeah, I'm also a philosophy PhD in two deep deep rabbit holes: posthumanist environmentalism and eroticism/intimacy/nonmonogamy. Trying to make one tunnel system out of them.

GParted Live-1.7.0-8 wurde heute veröffentlicht und ist ein kostenloses Open-Source-Partitionierungsprogramm, das auf GParted basiert. Es nutzt den Linux-Kernel 6.12.37-1 und bietet experimentelle Unterstützung für das Bcachefs-Dateisystem sowie die Erkennung von Network Block Devices. Die Version verbessert die exFAT-Unterstützung und enthält neue Pakete. GParted Live-1.7.0-8 ist als ISO- und USB-Image für 64-Bit-Systeme verfügbar; 32-Bit-Systeme werden nicht mehr unterstützt.

DPF validation. What's not to like?

If you so choose, you can use ASCII palette indices in DPF files, just like you would in XPM files. But in DPF there's no reason you wouldn't use any Unicode codepoint for palette indices. In fact, if you use coloured square emojis instead of plain ASCII characters,.
If you do it that way, when you cat a .dpf file with icons, what you will get will be... oh surprise!

Now I'm thinking how to reconcile the typical layered pixmap editor that Deluxe Draw aims to implement with the ZX Spectrum colour model.

That would require the editor to support layers of different resolutions:

1. background plane with attributes (32 x 24)
2. bitmap plane on top (256x192) acquiring colours from the attribute layer underneath.

It could conceivably be construed as a blend mode of sorts. That might possibly work.

The blend mode seems doable, the different resolutions per layer is more tricky or possibly hacky.
