There are rumors there will be a new Geany release in about three weeks. Stay tuned, I'm sure @GeanyIDE will tell us soon that Geany 2.1 is on its way .

I've really been enjoying using @GeanyIDE but I found it quite annoying that Markdown files didn't offer a pretty-print preview in the IDE. I'm not sure if anyone needs to hear this besides me, but on Debian one needs to separately install the package `geany-plugins` in order to get the Markdown plugin, then activate it in the plugins menu.
The #Geany developers are looking for a new maintainer for the Windows builds of Geany.
The Windows builds of Geany were created previously on a Windows 7 VM which is not supported any longer.
We are looking for a new maintainer who likes to take care of the Windows builds, knows MSYS2 and has access to a Windows system with a recent version to be able to build and test Geany on Windows.
For more details and comments, see https://github.com/geany/geany/issues/4189.
I just noticed that my favorite #IDE @GeanyIDE was released in Version v2.0.0 four days (EDIT: and a year, LOL ) ago !
Now I am curious whats all new. The last version was v1.3.6 from September 2019 (!) and the project exists since 2005. So it looks like a big deal

Edit: I am late to the party, Release is from 2023 :D But still - yay!
A question for the #editor nerds using #HelixEditor #vim #emacs or gui editors as #geanyide. Is it technically possible to set code highlighting to bold, it, font sizes, etc. I am asking because a young family member is probably totally colour blind (as in can only see levels of grey).
As soon as a non-Electron based IDE ports this https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=rusnasonov.vscode-typograf I would most likely move over there. Kate? Geany? Notepad Next? Anyone?..
They don’t seem to care about us “text pretty!” people. So for now, VS Code/Codium is just so much better. And feels snappier on Linux, mayhaps?
