Jeffrey Bergier<p>Look what arrived! </p><p>I quickly booted up the <a href="https://jeffburg.social/tags/iMacG4" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>iMacG4</span></a> and the hard drive is totally dead. The listing said it worked but it could have easily died in shipping. It’s 20 years old. But when it booted the LCD was in good condition and all the peripherals are clean so I will remain positive it works fine. </p><p>I already ordered an SSD and 2gb of RAM from MacSales.com but this project will remain dormant until August probably. Then I will take it apart, clean it and upgrade it 😎</p>

Random_Seed :apple_inc: 💾 🇿🇦<p>Busy fixing my newest acquisition. An iMac G4 17” 800mhz model from 2002. Opened it up and found the DC-DC conversion side failed. Looks like IC UC3845A died and shorted. I have a replacement on its way. Circled in the picture there are two other blown components, an MLCC capacitor and a resistor. Sometimes they show in the boot menu (yay!) but they never successfully boot.</p><p>Sooooo I went on ebay and snagged a set of original discs for $20. They say "iMac", they say "OSX 10.1.2".
