I just managed to organise the mound of different types of light bulbs we have stored as replacements for ones in the house.
Remember when you could just go out and buy --- a bulb. That was it - the only choice was 40w, 60w or even 100W.
Now you almost need a degree in engineering or be a qualified electrician to know what to buy, what to use.
And if you get the end part right - small, large, screw or not - there's the type of illumination to consider and the power source. Hrmph.
@oldrawgabbit indeed. Plus whether dimmable, and can it be used in an enclosed fixture. And how it tastes. ;)
@revmem Yes, and whether they are LED or something else.
@oldrawgabbit my new fave is the color of the bulb vs the packaging. Yellow is a hot color, blue is cool. The yellow on the packaging is harsh and bright while the blue is soft and diffuse.
If you bring home the soft blue box your house will be lit up like a surgery theater
@ATLeagle Yeah so true! We bought some gold coloured ones and they are a harsh orange light. And even trying to get basic white bulbs is near impossible, they are all different. You try to replace one of a pair and the colour is markedly different.
