My first 2-way radio contact with Antarctica, nearly 17000km from Montreal: Igor Taranenko (RI1ANE) kindly responded to a call from my tiny mobile vertical antenna transmitting at 25 Watts from a mobile mag mount stuck to my condo's deck railing. He is at Progress Base, a Russian research station, and stations worldwide are trying to make contact as well. The ionosphere is amazing.
