If a company has genetic data
And it's going bankrupt
And that causes one of the biggest economies in the world, California, to warn people to delete their data before that happens
Because they're very concerned about who the genetic data will be sold to in bankruptcy court
Idk man maybe it should just be illegal to sell genetic data in bankruptcy court? Or it should require stringent oversight and regulation?
@eniko I agree, of course.
But, in the long run, I wonder whether we can really have any expectation of privacy with our DNA.
I’m always shedding hair and skin cells. Any time I’m in public, my DNA has been there. Even if I’m not, I’m sure my DNA is in the wastewater.
The one thing missing is a way to tie my identity to it. And with near universal surveillance in the modern world, it’s inevitable that they could make the necessary inference.
