Our 4-year-old son suffered an asthma attack. We rushed him to his doctor, who refused treatment. Why? Because our health insurance wouldn’t cover it.
We had UnitedHealth—who leads the industry in rejecting 32% of all claims.
We must end the violence in America’s health system.

@paul @QasimRashid Nixon, a republican enacted for-profit medicine in the USA, 1970ish. Capitalism is the problem that includes a misconception that it serves the masses. It Does Not. it is cannibalistic because there are too many humans, who want max profits at the expense of others
Btw, if anyone in this conversation failed to vote for Harris because of a single issue: Gaza, then you deserve the coming pain of another Trump presidency debacle.
I can make a good argument that greed, rather than Regan, brought down the USSR.
If I remember correctly (and if I was taught the truth
I don't think limited #capitalism (with #publicsafety, #corrections, #masstransit, #education & #healthcare excluded) is that bad.
I think it's the greed & arrogance that bring the fall of all
@Impish4249 @paul @QasimRashid I’ve said often that Capitalism can only work if it is muzzled, that it’s excesses are capped, that the excess ‘profits’ are plowed back into society for health and stability. With the New Deal, the guard rails only held briefly, sliding backwards ever since.
The problem, we are selfish, not like minded, we take from others for personal advantage, easily corrupted and will allow Capitalism’s excesses to destroy us.
I would loop back to any excesses of greed, even greed for power, will undo any political or economic system which is why I am less interested in economic classifications and more on concepts of #education, #universalhealthcare, healthy #civilsociety, and so on. Am I futilely trying to boil the ocean again? <SIGH> Probably....
@Impish4249 @paul @QasimRashid Agreed that any system corrupted, is garbage, the official label can’t be applied. Here’s the thing about Capitalism, the “accruing of capital”. This can be good or very bad, but inherently it’s about individuals through hard work and effort accruing wealth for ‘themselves’. Beyond its purview is the health of society, unlike socialism which in theory is all about group dynamics and health, a different emphasis. 1/2
@Impish4249 @paul @QasimRashid For capitalism to work, it must be heavily regulated with a socialist mindset otherwise it becomes cannibalistic, destructive, and will lead to a breakdown. For profit medicine is a prime example of a breakdown in progress. Bankruptcy based on lost jobs. Social Security on the verge of collapse. Capitalism and incessant seeking of max profits for ‘self’ is the culprit. 2/2
@Huntn00 @Impish4249 @paul @QasimRashid
Regulated capitalism still exploits workers through the extraction of surplus and the alienation of workers from the products they produce. There's no reason to "make capitalism work" when doing so still exploits workers.
