@Jon6705 access to basic services, like financial services, (or public transport, education, care services) is a prerequisite for a healthy community. If Internet banking is the standard for a safe payment system, which can be a technological superior choice, then this access must be organized with local hubs indeed, where humans help humans.
Once again, the minority (but a significant minority in this case) - older people, those who are less well off, or unable to use on-line services - that will suffer, just so that banks can continue to reap large profits & pay share-holders.
@Jon6705 indeed. In the EU there’s growing awareness now that financial inclusion is crucial for stability, be it social, economic and financial. I hope the recent bank failures in the US open up an opportunity to revisit the question what is stability. But i don’t know about the UK.
