One measure of how popular Brexit is in the UK, is how many people have been scrambling to find Irish grandparents to facilitate an application for Irish (and thereby EU) citizenship via Foreign Births Register.
Applications reached a new high of 23,456 last year, which while a small absolute number does indicate (as the chart shows) a significant increase in applications.
Those of use without Irish ancestry can just look on (sometimes envious, no doubt).
@ChrisMayLA6 There was an interesting comment at the end of that article about the huge spike in potential US interest in Irish citizenship.
If only a fraction of those translate into actual immigration, that would be noticeable, particularly if folks bring their money with them.
