@dansup diaspora seems to be still around but i guess friendica remains a better alternative nowadays
Fun Fact: Friendica is one of the best #ActivityPub engines in terms of handling things other than microblogs. It's almost unparalleled in handling groups like Lemmy's, it includes support to follow RSS feeds directly, and it can even bridge with Bluesky!
@brawnybunkbedbuddy With Friendica you can also communicate with Diaspora users (+ and with Bluesky, Tumblr, ...). With Diaspora you are only in contact with other #Diaspora users and with Friendica and Hubzilla, but not with the rest of the Fediverse.

@brawnybunkbedbuddy @dansup Far as I know, Diaspora is going strong, and its interface is quite nice, definitely better than Friendica (someone needs to build themes for Friendica that improve the interface), problem is that they only use their own sharing protocol, which cuts them off from most of the Fediverse
@brawnybunkbedbuddy @dansup Diaspora doesn’t support ActivityPub and the activity is mostly dead. Friendica is a much better choice
