@cindyweinstein
If things don't get better soon, I'm going to have to cut out coffee then.

@cindyweinstein I’m so glad I quit. 2 more years in this reality? Hard pass

@aapis

I understand on one level; on another, I'm drinking my first morning cup of jo and it's pretty awesome.

@cindyweinstein i had a complicated relationship with coffee for years. Turns out my body doesn’t like all that caffeine. If you don’t have my dumb biology you get +2 life, that’s pretty dope.

@aapis

I'm sorry our body has robbed you of this. totally not fair.

@cindyweinstein Yay! A bit of good news today! Thanks!

@cindyweinstein and those are good years. Warm hands and energy.

@cindyweinstein

I just spoke with my doctor yesterday about this, and he says the coffee industry has better marketing than even the sugar and alcohol industries. Long story short: they're omitting all kinds of negative effects like inflammation, and you should never believe an industy-funded study.

"the research was funded by the Institute for Scientific Information of Coffee – a non-profit organization supported by major international coffee companies."

@Greengordon

I am sure the science behind it is compromised by this "non-profit organization." That said, coffee is my preferred form of inflammation and I won't give it up!!!

@cindyweinstein @Greengordon LOL at “preferred form of inflammation” …and +1 since, uh, I like coffee and can’t think of any *better* forms of inflammation. 🤣

@Greengordon @cindyweinstein Also, the whole "X food is associated with Y health outcome" genre of research is generally fraught. You can correlate all kinds of crazy shit. It doesn't mean much on its own.

@MaierAmsden @Greengordon

You're right but I do regret (and maybe my body does too?) my childhood years of eating way too many Pringles and RingDings.

@cindyweinstein

Correlation is not causation. That "study" is worthless as they simply can not isolate the causes of the various effects noted.

But I'm sticking with coffee. Not because of any perceived health benefits, but because I like it. Moderation in all things, though.

@cindyweinstein a cup of coffee outside when the sun is just coming up and everything is quiet might not extend my life but it helps make it worth living.
