Reminds me of the predation of #farmers in Fairfax County during the #GreatDepression when farms were bought for pennies on the dollar at tax auctions, then marked up for big bucks, sold to developers of what's now #Virginia suburbs of #DC. These New$ fat cats then ending up on the BoD of Natl Bank of Fairfax controlling the local development & economy for decades to come.
Fairfax County remained in the grip of #RealEstate developers to the pt that future Board of Supervisors Chair Jack Herrity was found guilty in 1986 of violating a #Virginia public disclosure law by failing to disclose his business partnership w/a Fairfax developer before voting on the developer's rezoning requests. He paid a $100 fine.

Favorable trtmt of Fx developers incl not requiring them to build roads to their devts, creating the congestion now plaguing the area.
