@jeffowski like, they know that though. sure, they won't come out and say it, and sure, a lot of them probably wouldn't even consciously acknowledge it, but that is very much a central fountain of the whole thing. it's why the people who scream the loudest about free speech only really do so to drown out those whose speech is the most constrained
it's why pointing out the constant hypocrisy doesn't really work anymore. they'll holler about saving the children while supporting matt gaetz. they'll accuse the left of censorship while banning books that reflect the lived experience of a minority of any kind. it's always been about making sure the vulnerable don't get even an iota of power, and the overton window has shifted far enough that it's okay actively perform that, as long as you are polite, and still play pretend that the old rules still apply
ron desantis will call the guy with the hakenkreuz on his gun a scumbag not because he was a white supremacist, but because he was uncivil
@jeffowski
It's amazing how rare it is now to find people who talk *and* walk like basic freedoms are universal human rights. The centre mainly defend the freedom of corporations and their owners. The right (with notable exceptions) mainly defend their freedom to violate other people's freedom. The left (with notable exceptions) have mainly given up on the idea of freedom altogether
