@jeffowski that's fun and all, but they are far too welcoming of cops at their shows to be credibly antifascist. Look for "support for the men and women in the Armed Forces, Police" here to see what they're actually about. https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/x3z8ax/dropkick_murphys_frontman_has_had_enough_of_lying/
@davidfetter @jeffowski say that to Ken...
@Langhamian @jeffowski how many cops' asses has he kicked since 2013, when this incident occurred?
See what he says. Maybe they are related to a few good cops.
All I know is these guys are solid on social justice issues so before you jump on em for whatever, look it up. I'm sure they have said something about their feelings.
@Langhamian @jeffowski I am vastly disinterested in what a guy who stans cops has to say for himself until it's something to the effect of, "I made a horrific mistake over long stretches of time. I have stopped making it, and will be dedicating what remains of my life to ensuring that others don't make it," and even then, I'm only interested once they've laid down a loud and public track record of following up.
While justice would demand that that track record be at least as long as they did this horrific thing, I figure people should have a way to back out, so let's call it a year.
Whatever dude. Things are hard and full of nuance.
As I said, you might try to listen.
There are literally tens of millions of people involved in that sweeping statement.
Don't hang it on a band just because one of them is or knows a cop...
@Langhamian @jeffowski There are not "millions" of cops in the country. If you use the most expansive definition of "cop," you might sneak over a million, but not by a lot, so factually, your "tens of millions" claim falls flat.
As to why cops are definitionally precluded from being good people, see literally everything else including my other response.
Wow. You are fanatically obsessed with this one thing...
Chill. The word tornadoes aren't winning anything.
Have a nice day...
“Everyone else was playing anti-police songs; we had a song called ‘John Law’ about a good cop,” Casey recently recalled to Billboard about the band’s early days. “We hated a lot of cops too, but I grew up with cops and knew there was another side.”
Why not read some stuff on Ken Casey, you'd be surprised at how much they actually do and the nuance of their understanding and experiences...
Its a huge world. The same rule or judgment cannot possibly apply to everyone.
@Langhamian @jeffowski oh, and there is no such thing as a good cop. That's because a single human being cannot negate the gigantic and powerful system that is policing. Their participation in it makes them bad. That's what ACAB is short for.
They can become good, but not while they're still cops, or keeping quiet about cops.
@jeffowski Well now I must listen to some Murphys.
@jeffowski Trivia: “I’m Shipping Up to Boston” is a Woody Guthrie song.
