@jeffowski Je pratique une religion, et j'approuve cette parole de sagesse.
@PH7831 -- Thank you for proving my point. You can practice religion without the bigotry.
I have a "Christoid" that lurks my feed apparently that takes offense to everything. You have proven that you can practice your religion and still be critical and evaluate it.
@jeffowski You can practice your religion and still be critical and evaluate it, of course.
As far as Christianity is concerned (and for what i know, catholicism), Jesus Christ did it, and priests and bishops did it. Luther did it.
I remember a catholic priest saying about the Genesis book : "It's a tale.", not pejoratively to tell it's bullshit, but to explain the sense of it.
@jeffowski @PH7831
Let us not forget it is an abomination against the Lord to eat a bacon cheeseburger.
"Jesus forgives my sins so I can condemn you for yours" - a person so famous they can grab sex organs in one hand and up-side down bibles in the other... opps, oh well just listen to the music
@jeffowski The Bible also says to leave the edges of your field untouched to provide food for animals and the poor.
@TheMNWolf @jeffowski Instead of sharing the earth with whatever lives there and sharing its fruit with whomever lives there with us (but still I get your point and it's a good one
That’s a metaphor. The lesson Jeezy was imparting was that when you shave your pubes, you should leave an outer ring un-trimmed. That prevents the shrimp from attacking your genitals or charging outrageous interest rates. #BibleStudy
@jeffowski@mastodon.world i agree about the shrimp though
The bible also says a father can sell his daughter???
@jeffowski I don't get why we still belive in religions. I did study them a lot and it is always the same pattern. Wise words are perverted by the reigning cast to maintain power. In the 21st century we should be ready for something new. Btw, I think a lot of people could miss, that Jews, Christs and Moslems pray to the same god and Jesus was a reincarnation of Vishnu (as some believe) and all are stories born in our minds.
@demiurg -- And you've just stated the truth I discovered at age ten. They are so much alike that they fail in all the same ways.
@jeffowski Yes, my teachers didn't like my questions as well :) Like, isn't the Jesus on the wall an image of God and why is there nothing about Dinosaurs in the Bible and why are fish special, since they clearly were not the target for flodding the planet....
@jeffowski But later I went a bit deeper and studied Philosophy (among others). With Derrida's Deconsteuction, I slowly understood why we might never be able to understand our past and interreligious semiotics may be based on the structure of our brain :)
@jeffowski @demiurg Even Buddhism, which is mostly just "self help for bronze age people" got badly twisted. Clergy is always going to attract parasites because it's power to influence people without doing any real work or critical thinking.
Also, what kind of God would give everyone different playbooks and punish those who are born to a family with the wrong one. Sounds like a petty ahole. Any decent God would respect people who tried to be decent, believer or no.
@demiurg @jeffowski …I don’t think a lot of people are unaware that the Abrahamic religions all worship the god of Abraham.
Jesus getting yoinked into Hinduism is new to me, though.
@WhiteCatTamer @jeffowski I have the feeling you are too kind in your assumption. I don't have any numbers but I would guess the majority does not care. Some others might strongly disagree and so only a smaller fraction would agree on this view.
Seems at this point in history we all need to agree again, that all mankind is created equal and that some are not animals...
Bible also forbids:
Cheating
Cheeseburgers
Pork chops and bacon
Fat of any kind
Not being circumcised
Worshiping idols, including people
Claiming to be the Chosen one (Trump did)
Perjury
Appealing in court
Permanent body modification, including fake hair
Blasphemy (includes mishandling testaments, such as holding the Bible backwards, up-side down
Worshiping or loving money
@jeffowski You have to read the entire bible in context to eliminate you biases and bigotry.
@tikki330 -- Where are your slaves then? You definitely sound like a person that hasn't done what you've recommended.
@jeffowski Anyone you owe money to... you are indebted to them, and in fact are their slave. If you don't believe me, don't pay them and see what happens.
@tikki330 — LMAO I can only assume you’re speakingin tongues because what you just replied to makes no sense.
@jeffowski even I trim my beard sometimes. Only way to get the shrimp smell out of the ends.
@jeffowski I can get behind not wearing two different fabrics. Style has gone to hell these days.
@jeffowski you left out braiding your hair and wearing gold and pearls
@jeffowski The Bible was written nearly 2,000 years ago by goat herders who didn't know where the sun goes at night. Only a fool takes it seriously.
