I just learned that passkeys & Bitwarden is possible, and quite simple on GrapheneOS. Couldn't find a start to finish description on the required steps, so wrote my own.
Spoiler: Play Services are required, but it's not as bad as it sounds.
I use Proton Pass as a x-platform manager.
@avoca From what I can gather, Proton Pass works just the same as Bitwarden.
I guess so, though I'm not sure Proton Pass needs Google Services.
I stand to be corrected though...
@avoca Bitwarden and Proton pass both work fine without GSF for traditional passwords, but passkeys can't.
I think Firefox Beta may have a passkey implementation that doesn't require Play Svcs, but Chromium browsers don't have it. Haven't tried Firefox.
Fair enough.
I must say though, I've moved away from browser password/passkey extensions, and anything Firefox at all recently, unfortunately.
Vanadium works for my needs on GOS. Brave for my LM DTE.
@oranki Thanks for putting that together. I've avoided passkeys due to their somewhat unclear requirements on Apple and Google. It's nice to see FOSS options appearing.
