After a period of closure and land sales in 1976, the garden was revitalized and reopened in 2001. It is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places and recognized by the Garden Conservancy as a preservation project of national significance. ​ One of the garden's most celebrated features is its extensive waterlily collection, which includes over 100 varieties, some spanning more than three feet across. There is an episode of How I Met Your Mother where Lily thinks Marshall (her husband) is cheating because she finds credit card receipts showing that he is checking into hotels every work day. Turns out the truth is that he’s checking into hotels so that he can take a shit in private. He’s too embarrassed to take care of business at the office and he can’t just go home and do it, so he goes to hotels.

I want to state publicly that the writer of that episode is a genius. Never has there been a work of fiction that reflected real life as perfectly as this. It may be the most relatable 22 minutes of television ever made. Absolute genius.

No band practice tomorrow. Singer has the flu. I did order a new reverb pedal today so that’s music progress or something.

The forecast is calling for clear skies at sunrise tomorrow. Should I take the camera to the coast and chase the sunrise? The forecast also calls for the temperature to be in the mid-20’s. Yeah, that would be a no thank you.
