Finding this involving having to find an unsignposted track at a random point on a hiking trail that you only know to look for from a random article on the Australian Hiker website. I'm not sure if that's terrible design or genius.

January's cocktail pie - Rob Roy Macaroni O
With Burns Night just around the corner, I've been feeling a whisky cocktail - the Rob Roy.
I combined Burns Supper elements with the most Scottish food of all: a macaroni pie.
Hot water crust, haggis and vermouth macaroni, whisky cream sauce.

The NYT has a piece on the #RobRoy #Cocktail today, one of my personal faves. Eric Kim mentions that the drink was invented at the Waldorf=Astoria, which is true, though not the one you're probably thinking about.
I wrote a little piece on the drink a few years ago, with some meandering through other topics, like Walter Scott and Beethoven. Eventually, I got around to the drink.
If you ever wondered about the "equals sign" in Waldorf=Astoria, I get to that too.

NLS has good record on displaying some of our remarkable literary history to the people of #Scotland Recall standing in line to see their one-day showing of letters by Mary Queen of Scots. There's something about seeing the handwritten work that connects you to the person.
