The way meaning is embedded in LLMs is incredibly interesting! Each token (think: word) is a vector in high-dimensional space. If you start out with a vector that represents a certain word, you can add vectors to that to shift its meaning. Each dimension seems to encode something or other, so you can take the vector between "child" and "children" and add it to vector of "cat" and you should end up somewhere in the vicinity of "cats". It's a multidimensional map of meanings!
