Working on an #FPGA demo for NOVA demoparty in June. Verilator/SDL simulation for quick turnaround when designing vector graphics. I think this year's wild compo will be epic.

The search engines are failing me.

Dear Lazy Web:
If I wanted to enumerate the hierarchy of a design at the beginning of a cocotb test bench, how would I do it? (I'm aware of _discover_all(), but can't figure out how to iterate the results to print them.)

Extra credit: How do I get an interactive debugger to break within the cocotb python code if I call cocotb from pytest? It seems to run the pytest code in the debugger, but not the cocotb code.

VESA CVT is great for more sophisticated hardware using computer displays. But when designing your own hardware (#FPGA, ASIC, discrete logic), I recommend choosing older DMT and consumer electronics timings as they work with almost everything.

And you didn’t want to handle multiple pixel clocks in one design, did you? 😄

serd.es/2025/05/08/Switch-proj

serd.esSwitch project, part 1

I've been looking for a nice handheld android emu for playing games on recently and I've had the urge to buy an Analogue Pocket for even longer...

But this just caught my attention: crowdsupply.com/second-bedroom

Looks perfect for my needs. It's maybe a little more limited than the android emus in terms of console support (GB, GBC, GBA) but just the fact that it's FPGA based and they're working on accessory support is enough for me to think it's worth keeping track of.

No mention of moonlight support (who knows how big an ask that would be) but that would seal the deal I think...

The #GameBUB #FPGA #Gameboy has some interesting benefits over the Analogue Pocket. For example it seems like its going to be prepped to run ROMs out of the box with zero setup, and It seems to be including some additional hardware to support some of the more exotic gameboy & advance games that had rumble, or accelerometers built into the cartridge.

The Analogue Pocket supports those games too, but it requires well... the cartridge with an accelerometer to be inserted. It doesn't bring one with it.

This sort of thing impacts a minority of the gameboy and #GBA's library. But its kind of a big deal if your favorite game is Kirby Tilt n Tumble like me.

Which ive been MEANING to track down a cartridge of for more than a hot minute now.

RT: @eli.lipsitz.net‬ (bluesky) There’s been a lot of interest in Game Bub, so I’m going to be launching a crowdfunding campaign through
@crowdsupply!
