An unexpected delight of my local walks this year is I almost always observe evidence of woodpeckers.
At first it was the nearby or distant pecking noise, but in recent months it is often seeing at least one every walk.
As someone who never saw one in real life until this last year, and who thought it would be rare if I ever did, it’s amazing.
Especially when I’m not seeing some of the more common birds these last few years.
