The idea that predatory cis men will pretend to be trans to gain access to women-only spaces is so ridiculous, that it was the plot of an early 80s sitcom starring Tom Hanks (minus the predatory part).

Arguing that #TransAthletes are not a big problem isn't the winning progressive argument you think it is, because all you are accomplishing is reinforcing the conservative premise that #trans people are a problem.

IMO: I hear about #trans in the #USmilitary and #TransAthletes suffering in the USA and I see people stand up for them. Rightfully so. But what a big movement to #ProtectTransKids

What about protecting low income trans people when they have use ID to get housing, food and healthcare?

What about the special issues trans immigrants, asylum seekers, POCs, etc have to deal with?

What about fighting against the confiscation of trans , nb and genderqueer people's passports? How are trans , etc people treated coming to the US and how are peopel leaving the US treated?

If you can't even be a blond, German, cis, het, male, middle class traveller without being brutalised by the U.S., what does one think can happen when someone is LGBTQIAplus, esp trans and esp. a POC?

Where are the BIG protests for queer rights? Where are the big protests to demand that people are allowed to use whatever pronoun people want to use?

AUGUSTA, Maine — "Maine lawmakers are considering an #AntiDoxxing bill that was introduced in an effort to protect minors from adults online.

"#LD537 refers to the term 'doxxing,' which means to share someone's personal information usually with malicious intent.

"The anti-doxxing bill was submitted to the legislature in December 2024 by Democratic Rep. Melanie Sachs of Freeport and other state lawmakers.

"Sachs said this particular bill stems from an incident in 2023 involving a Freeport minor being targeted online by an adult.

"After looking further into that incident, Sachs said she observed Maine did not have the resources to deal with doxxing.

"The proposed bill would prohibit adults from sharing or posting personal identifying information of a minor with the intent to cause fear or harm to the child or their relatives.

"Recently, a #transgender teen from Greely won a state track title. The student-athlete became the center of conversation on #TransgenderPeople in girls' and women's sports in Maine after state Rep. #LaurelLibby made a social media post about it. State House lawmakers voted to censure Libby last week over the post.

"Sachs said LD 537 was already in the works and submitted before the February incident occurred.

"'I put in this bill last year, not to remedy any one situation but to find relief for any situation where an adult doxxes a child,' Sachs said. 'We should not have to legislate #decency, but in this day and age, it is really important for all of us to come together, regardless of what the issue is, to say adults should not doxx children, period.'

"A public hearing on LD 536 was held Monday morning in Augusta."

Today in Labor History June 23, 1972: Title IX of the United States Civil Rights Act of 1964 was amended to prohibit sexual discrimination to any educational program receiving federal funds. As a result, there has been a huge increase in girls’ athletic programs in high schools and colleges and, consequently, professional women athletes. It is probably one of the reasons why the U.S. has been able to produce so many top-level women soccer players and dominate women’s soccer for the past 20 years. In 2022, after filing a claim for equal pay, the U.S. women’s national soccer team won equal pay to the men. The World Surf League has been providing equal pay to athletes, regardless of gender, for five years now. Title IX also prohibits banning transgender athletes from competing in school sports, although this has been repeatedly violated in many states, with support of the courts.
